While exhibitors are not cutting shows, they do say that the collections are dropping. “It had a good opening but it kept dropping over the weekend. We are not cutting down the number of shows,” says a Big Cinemas spokesperson.
Girish Wankhede, deputy general manager, corporate communications and public relations at Cinemax India Ltd, Mumbai Area, believes the word-of-mouth reviews of the film were not very good. “The critics didn’t like the film so there was a low footfall initially. But on Saturday and Sunday, the night shows did better. Madhur’s films take some time to grow, so we are still hopeful,” he says.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine seems to have failed to impress audiences if the weekend collections are anything to go by. The Kareena Kapoor-starrer has bagged approximately Rs. 25 crore (Friday: Rs. 7.5 cr, Saturday: Rs. 8.5 cr and Sunday: Rs. 9 crore).
